“I’m Spending My Kids Inheritance”

Peanut Gallery: I hate that bumper sticker. My lower middle class parents worked hard, lived on less than they earned, and invested for their future. And it payed off for them and me… and I want to do the same for my kids. But the government is making it increasingly more difficult to make ends meet… never mind leave an inheritance.

Obama’s 2013 Budget is a case in point: Obama is giving to his friends at the expense of the under 30’s. And his friends are so greedy, they don’t give a rip about the future of their children and grandchildren. That’s not the way I was raised.

“With all that spending, someone will have to pay for it. Whose names will be on the bill? Those under 30 — America’s debt-paying generation. Their entire lives will be dominated by paying down today’s mountains of debt. And some of them are waking up to that fact.”

What do you expect from the government?

Peanut Gallery: What do you expect from the government? I expect my Social Security check every month… my pension was designed with a Social Security supplement in mind. After 40 years of contributing to both, my private pension fund is fully vested because of wise conservative managers and my social security fund is broke because of irresponsible government managers. Oh… and most of the government managers are not in the system and/or have made so much money off the government that they don’t care if social security goes broke because it won’t effect their lifestyle a bit.

This article – The Competitive Disadvantage of Principle | RedState – does not specifically address social security, but deals with middle class people who take advantage of the government social safety net and yet resent it because it compromises their principles of independence, hard work and upward mobility. More and more, middle class people are being taxed to supplement their income so that they can stay where they are.

So… that’s my question: “What do you expect from the government?” The answer is complicated….

“We seem to be on the cusp of that in this country and the middle class realizes what is happening. The creators in the country who come up with the ideas, take the risks to capital and reputation, and possibly get ahead are more and more being labeled the bad guys. But there is more to it than that. The middle class is coming to terms with the idea that upholding its principles will put it at a competitive disadvantage and they are seething about it.”

Love Never Fails….

“On Valentine’s Day, romantic love is expressed through cards, flowers, candy, and gifts. On every day of the year, Samaritan’s Purse programs communicate a different kind of love. Whether through feeding people in Liberia (above), or any of our projects in countries throughout the world, our aim is to tell people about the One who showed the incredible depths of His love by giving His Son as a sacrifice for sin. Debi Lammert, an Advanced Practice Nurse from Tulsa, Oklahoma, who has made five trips to Haiti to volunteer with Samaritan’s Purse, wrote the following, based on I Corinthians 13, about how that love is expressed in a practical manner.”
