Morning Prayer: Fri, 11 Nov – Psalm 119:137-144; Isaiah 28:11-13; Luke 4:5-8 ~ listen to understand

+ In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen!

Opening Sentence

I call all heaven to witness today that I have put on Christ.
I choose no other Lord than the Maker of heaven and earth.
This day I walk with Him and He will walk with me.

Reading: Psalm 119:137-144 (NLT)

O Lord, you are righteous, and your regulations are fair. Your laws are perfect and completely trustworthy. I am overwhelmed with indignation, for my enemies have disregarded your words.

Your promises have been thoroughly tested; that is why I love them so much. I am insignificant and despised, but I don’t forget your commandments. Your justice is eternal, and your instructions are perfectly true.

As pressure and stress bear down on me, I find joy in your commands. Your laws are always right; help me to understand them so I may live.

Reading: Isaiah 28:11-13 (NLT)

So now God will have to speak to his people through foreign oppressors who speak a strange language!

God has told his people,

“Here is a place of rest; let the weary rest here. This is a place of quiet rest.”

But they would not listen.

So the Lord will spell out his message for them again, one line at a time, one line at a time, a little here, and a little there, so that they will stumble and fall. They will be injured, trapped, and captured.

Reading: Luke 4:5-8 (NLT)

Then the devil took him up and revealed to him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. “I will give you the glory of these kingdoms and authority over them,” the devil said, “because they are mine to give to anyone I please. I will give it all to you if you will worship me.”

Jesus replied,

“The Scriptures say, ‘You must worship the Lord your God and serve only him.’”

A call to bring understanding:St Cedd (620-664)

+ hear the Word behind the word.

+ sensing when the spirit’s stirred,
+ there is healing in the waters if God’s touch is what you seek.

We must wait, and know God’s moment, listen well before we speak.

And in waiting for God’s moment that in peacefulness decides,
+ listen.

God is not in a hurry.

“None But Jesus” – Hillsong

May the peace of the Lord Jesus Christ go with you, wherever He may send you. May He guide you through the wilderness, protect you through the storm. May He bring you home rejoicing at the wonders He has shown you. May He bring you home rejoicing once again into our doors.

+ In the name of the Protecting Father, in the name of the Conquering Son, and in the name of the Liberating Spirit. Amen!
