Morning Prayer: Fri, 18 Nov – Psalm 55:6-8; Jeremiah 9:1-2; Mark 6:30-34 ~ in search of peace and quiet

+ In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen!

Opening Sentence

I call all heaven to witness today that I have put on Christ.
I choose no other Lord than the Maker of heaven and earth.
This day I walk with Him and He will walk with me.

Reading: Psalm 55:6-8 (NLT)

Oh, that I had wings like a dove; then I would fly away and rest! I would fly far away to the quiet of the wilderness.

How quickly I would escape — far from this wild storm of hatred.

Reading: Jeremiah 9:1-2 (NLT)

If only my head were a pool of water and my eyes a fountain of tears, I would weep day and night for all my people who have been slaughtered. Oh, that I could go away and forget my people and live in a travelers’ shack in the desert. For they are all adulterers—a pack of treacherous liars.

Reading: Mark 6:30-34 (NLT)

The apostles returned to Jesus from their ministry tour and told him all they had done and taught. Then Jesus said, “Let’s go off by ourselves to a quiet place and rest awhile.” He said this because there were so many people coming and going that Jesus and his apostles didn’t even have time to eat.

So they left by boat for a quiet place, where they could be alone. But many people recognized them and saw them leaving, and people from many towns ran ahead along the shore and got there ahead of them. Jesus saw the huge crowd as he stepped from the boat, and he had compassion on them because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So he began teaching them many things.

Prayer: in search of peaceReinfrid (?-1084/5)

Sometimes I feel weary of life, exhausted by experience. I long for space to be at peace. But then I recognize that peace must often be made before it can be enjoyed. So let me be a peace-maker, a remedy-finder, a bridge-builder.

Teach me to lay down my life.

So let me be a breach-repairer, a new way-maker, relationship-broker. May I be Heaven’s message, present and earthed.

“Psalm 55” – Lindsey James VanCleve

May the peace of the Lord Jesus Christ go with you, wherever He may send you. May He guide you through the wilderness, protect you through the storm. May He bring you home rejoicing at the wonders He has shown you. May He bring you home rejoicing once again into our doors.

+ In the name of the Protecting Father, in the name of the Conquering Son, and in the name of the Liberating Spirit. Amen!
