“Now which of these three would you say was a neighbor to the man who was attacked by bandits?” Jesus asked. The man replied, “The one who showed him mercy.” Then Jesus said, “Yes, now go and do the same.”
15th Ordinary Sunday, 10 July: Deuteronomy 30:10-14; Psalm 19:8-11; Colossians 1:15-20; Luke 10:25-37 ~ show mercy
In Christ you draw near to us, God of mercy and compassion, lifting us out of death, binding up our wounds, and nursing our spirits back to health. Let such a tenderness as yours compel us to go and do likewise. Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God for ever and ever.
Gracious God: thank you for the compassion and mercy that you have shown me in Jesus Christ. I would love you with my whole being, and my neighbor as myself, because you loved me first.
