Easter Week: Monday Prayer, 05 Apr 2021 – Acts 2:14, 22-32; Ps 16; Matt 28:9-15 ~ Rejoice in God’s presence!

Easter Week: Monday Prayer, 05 Apr 2021

+ In the Name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Opening:

Grant, we pray, Almighty God, that we who celebrate with
reverence the Paschal feast may be made worthy to attain to
everlasting joys; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and
reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.
Amen

And behold, Jesus met [the women] and said, “Greetings!”
And they came up and took hold of his feet and worshiped him.
Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid;
go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee,
and there they will see me.”
(Matthew 28:9-10)

NT Reading: Acts 2:14, 22-32 (ESV)

Peter’s Sermon at Pentecost

2:14 But Peter, standing with the eleven, lifted up his voice and addressed them: “Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and give ear to my words.

2:22 “Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man attested to you by God with mighty works and wonders and signs that God did through him in your midst, as you yourselves know— this Jesus, delivered up according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God, you crucified and killed by the hands of lawless men. God raised him up, loosing the pangs of death, because it was not possible for him to be held by it. For David says concerning him,

“‘I saw the Lord always before me,
for he is at my right hand that I may not be shaken;
therefore my heart was glad, and my tongue rejoiced;
my flesh also will dwell in hope.
For you will not abandon my soul to Hades,
or let your Holy One see corruption.
You have made known to me the paths of life;
you will make me full of gladness with your presence.’

“Brothers, I may say to you with confidence about the patriarch David that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day. Being therefore a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that he would set one of his descendants on his throne, he foresaw and spoke about the resurrection of the Christ, that he was not abandoned to Hades, nor did his flesh see corruption. This Jesus God raised up, and of that we all are witnesses.

Gospel Reading: Matthew 28:9-15 (ESV)

28:9 And behold, Jesus met them and said, “Greetings!” And they came up and took hold of his feet and worshiped him. Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid; go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee, and there they will see me.”

The Report of the Guard

While they were going, behold, some of the guard went into the city and told the chief priests all that had taken place. And when they had assembled with the elders and taken counsel, they gave a sufficient sum of money to the soldiers and said, “Tell people, ‘His disciples came by night and stole him away while we were asleep.’ And if this comes to the governor’s ears, we will satisfy him and keep you out of trouble.” So they took the money and did as they were directed. And this story has been spread among the Jews to this day.

 “Resurrecting” from Resurrecting God | Praise And Harmony Singers

The head that once was crowned with thorns
Is crowned with glory now
The Savior knelt to wash our feet
Now at His feet we bow

The One Who wore our sin and shame
Now robed in majesty
The radiance of perfect love
Now shines for all to see

Your Name, Your Name
Is Victory
All praise will rise
To Christ our King
Your Name, Your Name
Is Victory
All praise will rise
To Christ our King

The fear that held us now gives way
To Him Who is our peace
His final breath upon the cross
Is now alive in me

The tomb where soldiers watched in vain
Was borrowed for three days
His body there would not remain
Our God has robbed the grave
Our God has robbed the grave

Your Name, Your Name
Is Victory
All praise will rise
To Christ our King
Your Name, Your Name
Is Victory
All praise will rise
To Christ our King

By Your Spirit I will rise
From the ashes of defeat
The resurrected King is resurrecting me
In Your Name I come alive
To declare Your victory
The resurrected King is resurrecting me

Prayer: “We Are One with the Risen Christ”

Lord we lift our hearts to you. As the dawn breaks, may we carry the unity we share into every moment knowing that we are one with the risen Christ. Lord, we lift our eyes to you. As the sunrises, may this moment stay with us, reminding us to look for the beautiful colors of promise in your word. Lord, we lift our prayers to you. As the dew air falls, may we breathe this morning in and know that like the earth, you sustain us, keep us and work within us always. And so, we lift our voices to you. We celebrate the greatest day in history, when Jesus rose from death, defeated darkness and bathed the world in stunning resurrection light. May we ever live to praise you! Amen.

Prayer: Your Victory Is My Victory”

Lord Jesus Christ, I rejoice and rejoice continually in Your glorious and triumphant victory over death. For Your victory is my victory. Help me to live by it, in it, and for it. I am grateful to my depths—grateful forever. Amen.

+ Christ as a light, illumine and guide us. Christ as a shield, overshadow us. Christ under us; Christ over us; Christ beside us on our left and our right. This day be within and without us, lowly and meek, yet all-powerful. Be in the heart of each to whom we speak; in the mouth of each who speaks to us. This day be within and without us, lowly and meek, yet all-powerful. Christ as a light; Christ as a shield; Christ beside us on our left and our right.
