Morning Prayer: Tue, 28 Feb – Psalm 127:1; Joshua 4:1-7; 1 Corinthians 3:10-11 ~ built by God

Tuesday of the Eighth Week in Ordinary Time

+ In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen!

Opening Sentence

Almighty God, give me grace to love what you command and to desire what you promise, that I may fix my heart on Jesus Christ your Son my Lord where true joy is to be found. Amen.

Reading: Psalm 127:1 (NLT)

Unless the Lord builds a house, the work of the builders is wasted. Unless the Lord protects a city, guarding it with sentries will do no good.

Reading: Joshua 4:1-7 (NLT)

When all the people had crossed the Jordan, the Lord said to Joshua, “Now choose twelve men, one from each tribe. Tell them, ‘Take twelve stones from the very place where the priests are standing in the middle of the Jordan. Carry them out and pile them up at the place where you will camp tonight.’”

So Joshua called together the twelve men he had chosen—one from each of the tribes of Israel. He told them, “Go into the middle of the Jordan, in front of the Ark of the Lord your God. Each of you must pick up one stone and carry it out on your shoulder—twelve stones in all, one for each of the twelve tribes of Israel. We will use these stones to build a memorial. In the future your children will ask you, ‘What do these stones mean?’ Then you can tell them, ‘They remind us that the Jordan River stopped flowing when the Ark of the Lord’s Covenant went across.’ These stones will stand as a memorial among the people of Israel forever.”

Reading: 1 Corinthians 3:10-11 (NLT)

Because of God’s grace to me, I have laid the foundation like an expert builder. Now others are building on it. But whoever is building on this foundation must be very careful. For no one can lay any foundation other than the one we already have—Jesus Christ.

Heavenly Father, be the architect and builder of my life.

+ Give me the grace to build on no other foundation but the foundation of Jesus Christ.
+ Remove and replace every faulty foundation in my life with Jesus Christ.
+ Ground me daily in your word so I can withstand the storms of life.

I confess and declare that Jesus Christ is my strong foundation; he will protect me from evil, he will answer my prayers, he is my all in all. To God be the glory. Amen.

“All to Us” – Chris Tomlin

  • May God keep you in all your days.
  • May Christ shield you in all your ways.
  • May the Spirit bring you healing and peace.

May God the Holy Trinity drive all darkness from you and pour upon you blessing and light.

+ In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen!
