Morning Prayer: 26 November – Isaiah 12; Romans 14:17-19 ~ a life of goodness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit

A Season of Thanksgiving

Morning Prayer

+ In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Opening sentence

Give thanks to the Lord and proclaim his greatness. Let the whole world know what he has done. Sing to him; yes, sing his praises. Tell everyone about his wonderful deeds.
__________

Morning Reading: Isaiah 12 NLT

In that day you will sing: “I will praise you, O Lord! You were angry with me, but not any more. Now you comfort me. See, God has come to save me. I will trust in him and not be afraid. The Lord God is my strength and my song; he has given me victory.”

With joy you will drink deeply from the fountain of salvation!

Joie de vivre!

Joie de vivre!

In that wonderful day you will sing: “Thank the Lord! Praise his name! Tell the nations what he has done. Let them know how mighty he is! Sing to the Lord, for he has done wonderful things. Make known his praise around the world. Let all the people of Jerusalem shout his praise with joy! For great is the Holy One of Israel who lives among you.”

Morning Reading: Romans 14:17-19 NLT

For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of what we eat or drink, but of living a life of goodness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. If you serve Christ with this attitude, you will please God, and others will approve of you, too. So then, let us aim for harmony in the church and try to build each other up.
__________

Prayer:

Blessed be our God and Father: He hears the prayers of His children.

+ Thank you, Father, for sending us Your Son: may we keep Him before our eyes throughout this day.
+ Make wisdom our guide, help us walk in newness of life.
+ Lord, give us Your strength in our weakness: when we meet problems give us courage to face them.
+ Direct our thoughts, our words, our actions today, so that we may know, and do, Your will.
+ Lord, give us Your Spirit: may we drink deeply from Your fountain of salvation and enter fully into Your joy.
+ Send us out as Kingdom people: bringing goodness, peace and joy to everyone we meet.

Lord God, true Light and Creator of light, grant that faithfully pondering on all that is holy, we may ever live in the splendour of Your presence. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.
__________

“Let the Righteous Be Glad (Psalm 68:1-3)” – Shimrit Hanes

Let God arise, let His enemies be scattered | Let them that hate Him flee, let them flee before Him
Let God arise, let His enemies be scattered | Let them that hate Him flee from before His face

As burning smoke is driven away | Let the Spirit of the living God drive them away
As burning smoke is driven away | Let the Spirit of the living God drive them away

Let the righteous be glad | and rejoice before You
Let the righteous be glad | who trust in You
Let the righteous be glad | and rejoice before You
Those who keep Your commandments, delight in You

O bless His mighty/holy name | Magnify, sanctify God’s great name
_________

Canticle

Christ, as a light illumine and guide me. Christ, as a shield overshadow me. Christ under me; Christ over me; Christ beside me on my left and my right. This day be within and without me, lowly and meek, yet all-powerful. Be in the heart of each to whom I speak; in the mouth of each who speaks unto me. This day be within and without me, lowly and meek, yet all-powerful. Christ as a light; Christ as a shield; Christ beside me on my left and my right.

Blessing

May the peace of the Lord Christ go with you, wherever He may send you. May He guide you through the wilderness, protect you through the storm. May He bring you home rejoicing at the wonders He has shown you. May He bring you home rejoicing once again into our doors.

+ In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
