+ In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen
Opening prayer:
Almighty God, give us grace
to cast away the works of darkness,
and put on the armor of light,
now in the time of this mortal life in which
your Son Jesus Christ came to visit us
in great humility;
that in the last day, when he shall come again
in his glorious majesty
to judge both the living and the dead,
we may rise to the life immortal;
through him who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen.
Then they all prayed,
“O Lord, you know every heart.
Show us which of these men you have chosen
as an apostle
to replace Judas in this ministry.”
(Acts 1:24)

From the Psalms: Psalm 72 – Poor Bishop Hooper
give the king your judgments o god
give your righteousness to his son
may he judge the people with justice now
and give deliverance to the poor and the children
may he rule from sea to sea to sea
from the river there to where the earth ends
then the tribes will come and bend their knee
let every king and nation now bow before him
may he be like rain that falls upon the grass
may his name endure forever
may all nations bring him praise in him be blessed
let peace abound ’til the moon is no more
long may he live in golden days
may prayer be made always for him
may cities now with fruit and grain
blossom out in abundance
may he be like rain that falls upon the grass
may his name endure forever
may all nations bring him praise in him be blessed
let peace abound ’til the moon is no more
may his name endure till the sun is no more
blessed be the lord the god of Israel
who alone works mighty wonders
blessed be his glorious name forevermore
and let the earth be filled with glory

A Promise of Restoration
4:2 But in that day, the branch of the Lord
will be beautiful and glorious;
the fruit of the land will be the pride and glory
of all who survive in Israel.
+ All who remain in Zion
will be a holy people—
those who survive the destruction of Jerusalem
and are recorded among the living.
+ The Lord will wash the filth from beautiful Zion
and cleanse Jerusalem of its bloodstains
with the hot breath of fiery judgment.
+ Then the Lord will provide shade for Mount Zion
and all who assemble there.
He will provide a canopy of cloud during the day
and smoke and flaming fire at night,
covering the glorious land.
+ It will be a shelter from daytime heat
and a hiding place from storms and rain.

Matthias Replaces Judas
1:12 Then the apostles returned to Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives, a distance of half a mile. When they arrived, they went to the upstairs room of the house where they were staying.
Here are the names of those who were present: Peter, John, James, Andrew, Philip, Thomas, Bartholomew, Matthew, James (son of Alphaeus), Simon (the zealot), and Judas (son of James). They all met together and were constantly united in prayer, along with Mary the mother of Jesus, several other women, and the brothers of Jesus.
1:15 During this time, when about 120 believers were together in one place, Peter stood up and addressed them. “Brothers,” he said, “the Scriptures had to be fulfilled concerning Judas, who guided those who arrested Jesus. This was predicted long ago by the Holy Spirit, speaking through King David. Judas was one of us and shared in the ministry with us.”
1:21 “So now we must choose a replacement for Judas from among the men who were with us the entire time we were traveling with the Lord Jesus— from the time he was baptized by John until the day he was taken from us. Whoever is chosen will join us as a witness of Jesus’ resurrection.”
1:23 So they nominated two men: Joseph called Barsabbas (also known as Justus) and Matthias. Then they all prayed, “O Lord, you know every heart. Show us which of these men you have chosen as an apostle to replace Judas in this ministry, for he has deserted us and gone where he belongs.” Then they cast lots, and Matthias was selected to become an apostle with the other eleven.

__________
Almighty God, to you all hearts are open, all desires known, and from you no secrets are hid: Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you, and worthily magnify your holy Name; through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Almighty God, giver of all good things, by your Holy Spirit you have appointed various Orders of Ministers in your Church: mercifully behold your servants called to the Order of Priests, and so fill them with the truth of your doctrine and adorn them with holiness of life, that by word and good example they may faithfully serve you in this office, to the glory of your Name and the edification of your Church; through the merits of our Savior Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, world without end. Amen.
Almighty God, we pray for the peace of Jerusalem: Protect your people from the machinations of the evil one; and grant Israel’s leaders your heavenly wisdom, and the courage to do what’s right in your sight. Unite all your people around the common goal of restoration and peace, that they might return to you – the one true God – through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

May the Lord, when he comes,
find us watching and waiting.
+ In the Name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
“My prayer is not for the world, but for those you have given me, because they belong to you. All who are mine belong to you, and you have given them to me, so they bring me glory. Now I am departing from the world; they are staying in this world, but I am coming to you. Holy Father, you have given me your name; now protect them by the power of your name so that they will be united just as we are.
