Bible Reading

Daily Reading: 28 April – Crossing the Jordan – Joshua 3–4 ~ the Ark of the Covenant leads the way

Father, we could be driven to despair in the midst of the evil that surrounds us if we didn’t walk in the light of Your truth. We walk in the true wisdom that comes from heaven, not in the flawed wisdom that comes from the world.

+ Help us to make the most of every opportunity to stand up for your truth in our minds, our speech and in our actions.
+ Help us to be faithful in passing on the faith to the next generation. We want to be the light that shines forth in the creeping darkness of our land so that we can show others the way to eternal life.

And when our appointed time comes, lead us across that river to the place you have prepared for us. In the name of Jesus, your Son and our Savior, we pray. Amen.

Daily Reading: 26 April – The Golden Calf – Exodus 32–34 ~ how soon we forget

Heavenly Father, give me the heart of Moses, who cared only to see Your glory.

Give me a holy desire to glorify You in my private life, in my public life, and in all my associations. May You be my most prized treasure. I pray You will receive glory from my life. Today, show me Your glory through Your Word and help me to reflect this glory to others. Let me be like Moses who did not know that his face shone — may I live in Your presence and radiate Your presence to others.

Consume me with a desire to see You glorified in my life. Show me Your Glory! I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Daily Reading: 19 April – Moses and the Exodus: The Burning Bush – Exodus 3:1—4:17 ~ “I am who I am”

“My Lord God, I have no idea where I am going. I do not see the road ahead of me. I cannot know for certain where it will end. Nor do I really know myself, and the fact that I think that I am following your will does not mean that I am actually doing so. But I believe that the desire to please you does in fact please you. And I hope I have that desire in all that I am doing. I hope that I will never do anything apart from that desire. And I know that if I do this you will lead me by the right road, though I may know nothing about it. Therefore will I trust you always, though I may seem to be lost and in the shadow of death. I will not fear, for you are ever with me, and you will never leave me to face my perils alone.” – Thomas Merton
