Morning Prayer: Tue, 28 Mar – 1 Timothy 1:18-19 ~ battle-ready

Tuesday of the Fourth Week of Lent

+ In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen!

Opening Sentences

Gracious Father, whose blessed Son Jesus Christ came down from heaven to be the true bread which gives life to the world: Evermore give us this bread, that he may live in us, and we in him; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
__________

Reading: 1 Timothy 1:18-19 (NLT)

Timothy, my son, here are my instructions for you, based on the prophetic words spoken about you earlier. May they help you fight well in the Lord’s battles. Cling to your faith in Christ, and keep your conscience clear. For some people have deliberately violated their consciences; as a result, their faith has been shipwrecked.
__________

Prayer:

Lord Jesus Christ: In your death and resurrection you have defeated, once and for all time, the principalities and powers that would enslave me. And yet, the battles rage on – until you return in glory. Prepare me to successfully engage the enemy –

+ Ground me in your word that I may distinguish truth from falsehood.
+ Strengthen my faith in you that I may reject the lies and deceit of the devil.
+ Clothe me with your righteousness that I may live with a clear conscience.
+ Send me out with the Good News of peace – you, Lord, reign victoriously.

Lord Jesus Christ: I am battle-scarred and battle-ready. Position me where I can be most effective in the service of your Kingdom – until your glorious return. For yours is the Kingdom, the Power, and the Glory now and forever. Amen.

Reading: John 6:15-21 (NLT)

When Jesus saw that they were ready to force him to be their king, he slipped away into the hills by himself.

That evening Jesus’ disciples went down to the shore to wait for him. But as darkness fell and Jesus still hadn’t come back, they got into the boat and headed across the lake toward Capernaum.

Soon a gale swept down upon them, and the sea grew very rough. They had rowed three or four miles when suddenly they saw Jesus walking on the water toward the boat. They were terrified, but he called out to them, “Don’t be afraid. I am here!”

Then they were eager to let him in the boat, and immediately they arrived at their destination!
