Almighty God,
give us the increase of faith, hope, and love;
and, that we may obtain what you have promised,
make us love what you command;
through Jesus Christ our Lord,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,

36:24 Instead, glorify his mighty works,

+ Everyone has seen these things,
though only from a distance.
36:26 “Look, God is greater than we can understand.
His years cannot be counted.
+ He draws up the water vapor
and then distills it into rain.
+ The rain pours down from the clouds,
and everyone benefits.
+ Who can understand the spreading of the clouds
and the thunder that rolls forth from heaven?
+ See how he spreads the lightning around him
and how it lights up the depths of the sea.
+ By these mighty acts he nourishes the people,
giving them food in abundance.
+ He fills his hands with lightning bolts
and hurls each at its target.
+ The thunder announces his presence;
the storm announces his indignant anger….

+ Do you know how God controls the storm

Can people even speak when they are confused?
+ We cannot look at the sun,
for it shines brightly in the sky

+ We cannot imagine the power of the Almighty;
but even though he is just and righteous,
he does not destroy us.

Jesus Calms the Storm
8:23 Then Jesus got into the boat and started across the lake with his disciples. Suddenly, a fierce storm struck the lake, with waves breaking into the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. The disciples went and woke him up, shouting, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!”
8:26 Jesus responded, “Why are you afraid? You have so little faith!” Then he got up and rebuked the wind and waves, and suddenly there was a great calm.
+ The disciples were amazed. “Who is this man?” they asked. “Even the winds and waves obey him!”

Most loving Father, you will us to give thanks for all things, to dread nothing but the loss of you, and to cast all our care on the One who cares for us.
