“Hang together… or hang alone.” Comment on Public Catholic “US on Path to Anti-Christian Violence”

Rebecca Hamilton has once again issued a clarion call – “Christians around the world are experiencing intense persecution on all sides. They’ll be coming for you next.” [my paraphrase]

She is not an alarmist – we need look no further than the current assault on “Chick-fil-A” for an example.

The question she raises is – “Why can’t we – as Christians – just get along… and unite around common cause?” [again, my paraphrase] Good question… and she has Biblical backing to ask it.

“Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God. Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love. Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace. For there is one body and one Spirit, just as you have been called to one glorious hope for the future. There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and one God and Father, who is over all and in all and living through all.” [Ephesians 4.1-5 NLT]

Target Fixation: Part of the answer can be found in our human condition – pride, arrogance, etc – and Satan’s attempts to destroy the Church – not going to happen. But even Christian people of good will have difficulty crossing denominational boundaries.

I think it might have something to do with a phenomenon known as “target fixation.” Continue reading ““Hang together… or hang alone.” Comment on Public Catholic “US on Path to Anti-Christian Violence””

Billy Graham Says His Heart Aches for ‘Deceived’ America

“Our society strives to avoid any possibility of offending anyone – except God,” Graham says. “Yet the farther we get from God, the more the world spirals out of control.”

“My heart aches for America and its deceived people,” Graham continues. “The wonderful news is that our Lord is a God of mercy, and He responds to repentance. In Jonah’s day, Nineveh was the lone world superpower – wealthy, unconcerned, and self-centered. When the Prophet Jonah finally traveled to Nineveh and proclaimed God’s warning, people heard and repented.”

Mark your calendar.

The year is 2012 and porn has gone mainstream with Moms.

“Fifty Shades of Grey” is a New York Times best seller. The target audience for this pornographic novel? Women.

How do I know it’s pornographic? I haven’t read it, nor will I. I’m basing this judgement from reliable critics of the culture, such as Al Kresta of Ave Maria Radio.

A blogger describes the premise of the book this way:

In the book, the lead male character, Christian, sweeps a young virgin, Ann, off her feet. As a pseudo-relationship is forged, however, the women is asked to sign a contract in which she agrees to essentially become the slave — sexual and otherwise — of her new superior. “The Dominant accepts the submissive as his, to own, control dominate and discipline,” agrees the couple, “for purpose of discipline [and]…for his own personal enjoyment.”

House committee passes bill restricting abortions in D.C.
By Tom Howell Jr.-The Washington Times Wednesday, July 18, 2012

The House Judiciary Committee approved a bill on Wednesday that bans abortions in the District 20 weeks into pregnancy, despite objections by Democrats and city leaders that the bill unreasonably singles out residents of the nation’s capital.

Rep. Trent Franks, Arizona Republican, introduced the bill in January based on the belief the fetus would feel pain. He had obtained more than 200 co-sponsors in the Republican-controlled House as of Wednesday’s markup. The legislation, which passed the committee on an 18-14 vote, will be forwarded to the full House for their consideration.
