Prayer: The Triumph of Truth

Merciful God: You alone have the power to spiritually transform America from a godless nation into godly nation. You alone offer freedom to all who humble themselves before You in repentance and prayer. In this spirit, I ask You to heal our broken land – politically, morally and spiritually. Intervene in this presidential election cycle that truth may triumph over lies to Your glory and honor.

+ Lord, embolden Your people to be sowers of the Gospel of truth even in this season of lies and deceit.
+ Lord, give us the discernment to distinguish between truth and lies and to speak and act accordingly.
+ Lord, shield us from evil rock throwers of accusation and the deceitful messaging that dominates the media.
+ Lord, protect us from evil thieves and predators who would steal our country’s heritage and leave us wounded and dying in sin.
+ Lord, deliver us from temptation and painful entanglements that drain our energy and leave us useless.

Gracious God: Draw us back to the truth of Your Word and enable us by Your Spirit to clarify eternal fact from contemporary fiction. Produce in us truthfulness, holiness and obedience that truth may triumph over lies to Your glory and honor.

I am worn out waiting for your rescue, but I have put my hope in your word. My eyes are straining to see your promises come true. When will you comfort me?

I am shriveled like a wineskin in the smoke, but I have not forgotten to obey your decrees. How long must I wait? When will you punish those who persecute me? These arrogant people who hate your instructions have dug deep pits to trap me. All your commands are trustworthy. Protect me from those who hunt me down without cause. They almost finished me off, but I refused to abandon your commandments.

No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening—it’s painful! But afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way.

So take a new grip with your tired hands and strengthen your weak knees.

Prayer

Faithful God: Thank You for another day! Thank You for my life and the purpose You have given me. Thank You for Your Word and Spirit. Refresh my spirit – I come before You feeling tired and weak.

+ Fill me with joy – that I may rejoice in Your goodness no matter how tired I am.
+ Enfold me in Your unfailing love – that I may not be overcome by fear or anxiety.
+ Strengthen me and all who are feeling tired or empty – that we may not complain in our weakness.
+ Restore our minds and align our thinking with Your word – that we may still function properly.
+ Empower our bodies with Your Spirit that we may have the energy needed to get through the day.
+ Give us the wisdom to let go of those things that drain us and get the rest we need.

Merciful God: I ask for Your healing presence in my life and in the lives of all who are feeling tired and weak. We lay our lives down at Your throne and praise You in Jesus’ name. Amen.

The upcoming election is the most important in our lifetime. The presidential race isn’t about personalities – both candidates are flawed. What it really comes down to is the appointment of Supreme Court justices. The Supreme Court is the most powerful body of decision makers in our nation, and they serve life terms. Their beliefs matter. Many of the things they rule on are important to God – including issues like abortion, the definition of marriage, and religious freedoms.

The next president of the United States will immediately appoint one Supreme Court justice and may appoint up to a total of five while in office. The justices who are appointed will impact the direction of our country for the next hundred years. I urge everyone to research who the candidates say they will nominate for the highest court in the land.

Prayer: For Nominees to the Supreme Court

Heavenly Father: Our founders encoded a legal system in America based, however imperfectly, on our Judeo-Christian heritage with the Ten Commandments as the cornerstone. And yet, these basic, essential, values are currently under assault from all sides.

In this presidential election, You have given Americans the opportunity to stem the tide of secularism in our country. And so, I pray for the appointment of Supreme Court justices that will:

+ Lord, I pray for Supreme Court justices who will uphold the Sanctity of Life.

After eight years of the most pro-abortion president in American history, our choices seem abundantly clear: a continuation of a radical, pro-abortion agenda advancing its legality through nine months of pregnancy, or a course correction toward the sanctity of innocent human life. May voters choose life.

+ Lord, I pray for Supreme Court justices who will uphold the traditional Definition of Marriage.

Unprecedented threats are coming through the militant LGBT agenda. Same-sex marriage and the abolition of gender eventually will have an impact on every religious institution and person.

When human sexuality is elevated to a civil right on par with race, discrimination laws that are now applied to race and ethnicity will be equally applied to sexual behavior….

The LGBT agenda will influence the hiring and firing of teachers and affect admissions, disciplines, student loans and facilities. Even churches will not be immune from such challenges.

Make no mistake about it—this attack is coercive, unyielding and highly aggressive. No one will be exempt.

For more than 200 years, Americans could take religious liberty for granted. It was a fundamental characteristic of the United States—and one reason why the rest of the world saw this nation as a beacon of hope.

Not anymore. Now, America’s “first freedom” is in danger of being thrown on the trash heap.

The Obama administration, numerous judges and legislators, and in many cases the U.S. Supreme Court, seem eager to steamroll any state, business, school or individual that does not support the killing of unborn babies, the celebration of same-sex marriage or the obliteration of gender distinctions.

Some states, notably Oregon and Washington, have punished business owners and public officials for living according to their Christian faith.

Lord God: Your people have always run into roadblocks on the way to freedom; and, sadly, we are prone to discouragement and despair when we do. Truthfully, we’re not a very trusting lot – Americans especially.

+ Lord, help us to trust You with all our hearts for the outcome of this Presidential election.
+ Lord, give us the strength and courage to persevere no matter how difficult the road ahead of us.
+ Lord, fill every believer with resurrection power – the power to overcome dead ends.
+ Lord, do not put Your people to shame – rescue us from the lies and deceit of the evil one.
+ Lord, vindicate our confidence in You by giving America a second chance to trust in You.
+ Lord, make a way back to You for America, where there is no way.

Lord God: May we keep moving in faith and trust You for the outcome. We ask, not for understanding, but for courage to persevere to the end. You are the sovereign Lord, both of this world and the world to come. Thank You for using this election cycle for good, whether we can see it or not.
