When Jesus had finished saying all this to the people, he returned to Capernaum. At that time the highly valued slave of a Roman officer was sick and near death. When the officer heard about Jesus, he sent some respected Jewish elders to ask him to come and heal his slave. So they earnestly begged Jesus to help the man. “If anyone deserves your help, he does,” they said, “for he loves the Jewish people and even built a synagogue for us.”

So Jesus went with them. But just before they arrived at the house, the officer sent some friends to say, “Lord, don’t trouble yourself by coming to my home, for I am not worthy of such an honor. I am not even worthy to come and meet you. Just say the word from where you are, and my servant will be healed.

Prayer for Discernment:

Sovereign God:

You alone hold the fate of America and its people in Your hand.

Hear my payer as I come before Your throne of grace on behalf of America and American believers – deliver us from evil and give us common sense and discernment when we vote for the next President of the United States.

+Deliver us from wicked people and policies – from lies, deceit, and corruption endemic to our government that are destroying America from within.

+ Deliver us from apathy and naiveté regarding the Supreme Court and the effect the next appointments of Supreme Court Justices will have on the future of America.

Prayer for Healthcare:

Jehovah-Rapha: You are the God who heals all our diseases. And your healing power was on full display in the life and ministry of your Son, Jesus Christ.

Amazingly, you sent Jesus’ disciples out to carry on his healing ministry – which continues today through both supernatural and modern medical means. American medical missionaries have established hospitals and clinics all over the world. And here in America, your church has established some of the finest hospitals anywhere – offering the best possible medical care to everyone in need. No one is ever turned away.

And yet now, Lord, all that has been turned upside down, without the public’s consent, through the fraud that is Obamacare. Even now, premiums are rising and coverage is falling threatening to collapse our once great healthcare system.

Jehovah-Rapha: In this presidential election, healthcare is once again on the table; the choices are – more of the same downward death spiral, or repeal and replace with something better.

Lord, I ask that the voters choose to repeal and replace Obamacare – specifically:

+ that the individual mandate be eliminated,  so that no one is forced to buy insurance.

+ that health insurance be available competitively across state lines, so that costs will go down and consumer satisfaction will go up.

+ that individual’s health insurance premiums be fully tax deductible, so that citizens have the same exemptions as businesses and congress.

+ that individuals be allowed tax-free Health Savings Accounts, so that they can manage their own health care expenses.

+ that transparency be required of all healthcare providers, so that individuals are able to price-comparison shop for healthcare services.

+ that congress pass no laws regarding healthcare from which they or their staffs are exempt.

Jehovah-Rapha: You are the God who heals all our diseases – use this presidential election to restore America’s healthcare system, so that individuals have a multitude of healthcare options – at lower cost, with wider coverage available to all.
