After Pentecost| Wednesday – 22 June 2022

+ In the Name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Lord of all power and might,
the author and giver of all good things:
Graft in our hearts the love of your Name,
increase in us true religion, nourish us with all goodness,
and bring forth in us the fruit of good works;
through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns
with you and the Holy Spirit, one God,
for ever and ever. Amen.

Jesus rebuked the evil spirit and healed the boy.
Then he gave him back to his father.
Awe gripped the people
as they saw this majestic display of God’s power.
(Luke 9:42-43)

Psalms Reading: Psalm Psalm 64Poor Bishop Hooper

hear my voice god
hear my voice in my complaint
save my life god
from the dread of enemies

hide me from the secrets of the evil ones
who set their tongues like swords upon me

hear my voice god
hear my voice in my complaint
save my life god
from the dread of enemies

they shoot hidden the innocent and blameless
like arrows drawn they aim their bitter speech
their traps are laid and still they say who sees them
for the inward mind and heart of man are deep
for the inward mind and heart of man are deep

still all men will fear
and all will stand and declare
the perfect works that he has done

surely all will realize the things he does
surely all the righteous will rejoice
surely they will find their shelter there in him
surely all the upright will sing praises praises

A Warning for Pharaoh

32:1 On March 3, during the twelfth year of King Jehoiachin’s captivity, this message came to me from the Lord: “Son of man, mourn for Pharaoh, king of Egypt, and give him this message:

“You think of yourself as a strong young lion among the nations,
but you are really just a sea monster,
heaving around in your own rivers,
stirring up mud with your feet.
Therefore, this is what the Sovereign Lord says:
I will send many people
to catch you in my net
and haul you out of the water.
I will leave you stranded on the land to die.
All the birds of the heavens will land on you,
and the wild animals of the whole earth
will gorge themselves on you.
I will scatter your flesh on the hills
and fill the valleys with your bones.
I will drench the earth with your gushing blood
all the way to the mountains,
filling the ravines to the brim.
When I blot you out,
I will veil the heavens and darken the stars.
I will cover the sun with a cloud,
and the moon will not give you its light.
I will darken the bright stars overhead
and cover your land in darkness.
I, the Sovereign Lord, have spoken!

“I will disturb many hearts when I bring news of your downfall to distant nations you have never seen. Yes, I will shock many lands, and their kings will be terrified at your fate. They will shudder in fear for their lives as I brandish my sword before them on the day of your fall.

Prayer: ACNA | BCP2019

+ O heavenly Father, you have filled the world with beauty: Open our eyes to behold your gracious hand in all your works; that, rejoicing in your whole creation, we may learn to serve you with gladness; for the sake of him through whom all things were made, your Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

+ Almighty and immortal God, giver of life and health: We implore your mercy for your servants afflicted with chronic illnesses, that by your blessing upon them and upon those who minister to them with your healing gifts, they may be restored to health of body and mind, according to your gracious will, and may give thanks to you in your holy Church; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

+ O Lord our God, accept the fervent prayers of your people; in the multitude of your mercies, look with compassion upon us and all who turn to you for help; for you are gracious, O lover of souls, and to you we give glory, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, now and for ever. Amen

Lord, be with us this day,
Within us to purify us;
Above us to draw us up;
Beneath us to sustain us;
Before us to lead us;
Behind us to restrain us;
Around us to protect us. | (Patrick c389-461)
