Morning Prayer: Fri, 07 Apr – Psalm 37:4-5 ~ what do you want?

Friday of the Fifth Week of Lent

+ In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen!

Opening Sentences

Almighty God, you alone can bring into order the unruly wills and affections of sinners: Grant your people grace to love what you command and desire what you promise; that, among the swift and varied changes of this world, our hearts may surely there be fixed where true joys are to be found; through Jesus Christ our Lord; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Reading: Psalm 37:4-5 (NLT)

Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart’s desires. Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust him, and he will help you.

Lord God: Our hearts are restless until we find our rest in you.

+ Grant us your wisdom and peace that we may find rest for our souls.
+ Reveal your presence to us that we may behold your beauty and majesty.
+ Fill us with your Spirit that we may experience your promised joy.
+ Conform our heart’s desires to your perfect will that we may want what you want.

Lord God: Forgive us our restlessness and discontent; we place our trust in your loving-kindness and faithfulness to satisfy the longing of our hearts. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.
