Thursday of the Sixth Week in Ordinary Time

+ In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen!

Opening Sentence

I have come to seek You, O God, just as I am I come.

I will wait for You, O God. My soul waits, and in Your word do I hope.

Reading: Psalm 71:14-18 (NLT)

I will keep on hoping for your help; I will praise you more and more. I will tell everyone about your righteousness. All day long I will proclaim your saving power, though I am not skilled with words. I will praise your mighty deeds, O Sovereign Lord. I will tell everyone that you alone are just.

O God, you have taught me from my earliest childhood, and I constantly tell others about the wonderful things you do. Now that I am old and gray, do not abandon me, O God. Let me proclaim your power to this new generation, your mighty miracles to all who come after me.

Reading: Genesis 12:1-5 (NLT)

The Lord had said to Abram, “Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father’s family, and go to the land that I will show you. I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others. I will bless those who bless you and curse those who treat you with contempt. All the families on earth will be blessed through you.”

So Abram departed as the Lord had instructed, and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he left Haran. He took his wife, Sarai, his nephew Lot, and all his wealth—his livestock and all the people he had taken into his household at Haran—and headed for the land of Canaan.

Reading: 1 Peter 2:4-5 (NLT)

You are coming to Christ, who is the living cornerstone of God’s temple. He was rejected by people, but he was chosen by God for great honor.

And you are living stones that God is building into his spiritual temple. What’s more, you are his holy priests. Through the mediation of Jesus Christ, you offer spiritual sacrifices that please God.

Blessed be our God and Father: You hear the prayers of Your children. Thank You for sending us Your Son, Jesus Christ, the Beginning and End of our life’s journey.

+ Give us faith to venture into the unknown, keeping Him before our eyes.
+ Make wisdom our guide; help us walk in newness of life throughout this day.
+ Give us Your strength in our weakness: when we meet problems give us courage to face them.
+ Direct our thoughts, our words, our actions today, so that we may know, and do, your will.

Lord God, continue to work Your saving power in us and through us. Make us into living stones of Your spiritual temple through faith in Your Son, Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with You, one God forever and ever. Amen.

“I will never leave you” – Scripture Lullabies

  • When you no longer know how to be, may the Father take you on your deeper journey.
  • When you no longer know what to do, may the Spirit reveal to you your fitting task.
  • When all feels lost or foreign, may you know your home in Christ.

+ In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen!
