Morning Prayer: Fri, 20 Jan – Psalm 10:2-4; Ecclesiastes 5:10-11; Acts 20:35 ~ more blessed to…

Friday of the Second Week in Ordinary Time

+ In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen!

Opening Sentence

O God, come to our aid.

O Lord, make haste to help us.

Reading: Psalm 10:2-4 (NLT)

The wicked arrogantly hunt down the poor. Let them be caught in the evil they plan for others. For they brag about their evil desires; they praise the greedy and curse the Lord.

The wicked are too proud to seek God. They seem to think that God is dead.

Reading: Ecclesiastes 5:10-11 (NLT)

Those who love money will never have enough. How meaningless to think that wealth brings true happiness! The more you have, the more people come to help you spend it. So what good is wealth—except perhaps to watch it slip through your fingers!

Reading: Acts 20:35 (NLT)

And I have been a constant example of how you can help those in need by working hard. You should remember the words of the Lord Jesus: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”

“Nobody is so poor he has nothing to give; and nobody is so rich he has nothing to receive.” – John Paul II

Lord God, guide me along the blessed path of giving.

+ may my journey be marked by cheerfulness and gratitude
+ may I freely give from what I have, whether rich or poor
+ may I also graciously receive gifts from others

Lord God, you loved me enough to give me your first and best, your Son Jesus Christ. Fill me with that same spirit of love and sacrifice. Amen.

“All the Poor and Powerless” – All Sons & Daughters

The Lord bless us, and keep us from all evil, and bring us to everlasting life.

+ In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen!
