Morning Prayer: Thu, 19 Jan – Psalm 69:1-3; Job 31:1-4; Matthew 5:27-28 ~ God sees everything

Thursday of the Second Week in Ordinary Time

+ In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen!

Opening Sentence

O God, come to our aid.

O Lord, make haste to help us.

Reading: Psalm 69:1-3 (NLT)

Save me, O God, for the floodwaters are up to my neck.

Deeper and deeper I sink into the mire; I can’t find a foothold. I am in deep water, and the floods overwhelm me. I am exhausted from crying for help; my throat is parched. My eyes are swollen with weeping, waiting for my God to help me.

Reading: Job 31:1-4 (NLT)

“I made a covenant with my eyes not to look with lust at a young woman. For what has God above chosen for us? What is our inheritance from the Almighty on high? Isn’t it calamity for the wicked and misfortune for those who do evil? Doesn’t he see everything I do and every step I take?”

Reading: Matthew 5:27-28 (NLT)

“You have heard the commandment that says, ‘You must not commit adultery.’ But I say, anyone who even looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart.”

Merciful God, I confess that I have sinned against you in thought, word and deed, by what I have done and what I have left undone. I am truly sorry and I humbly repent.

Create a clean heart within me, O God, so that it may become your chosen shelter and the resting place of the Holy Spirit.

For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on me and forgive me; that I might delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.

“Deus E Deus” – Thalita Pertuzatti

The Lord bless us, and keep us from all evil, and bring us to everlasting life.

+ In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen!
