Morning Prayer: Wed, 18 Jan – Psalm 4:4-6; Ecclesiastes 7:9; Ephesians 4:26-27 ~ control your anger

Wednesday of the Second Week in Ordinary Time

+ In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen!

Opening Sentence

O God, come to our aid.

O Lord, make haste to help us.

Reading: Psalm 4:4-6 (NLT)

Don’t sin by letting anger control you. Think about it overnight and remain silent.

Offer sacrifices in the right spirit, and trust the Lord.

Many people say, “Who will show us better times?” Let your face smile on us, Lord.

Reading: Ecclesiastes 7:9 (NLT)

Control your temper, for anger labels you a fool.

Reading: Ephesians 4:26-27 (NLT)

And “don’t sin by letting anger control you.” Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry, for anger gives a foothold to the devil.

God I look to You: be my Vision, my Wisdom, my Help, my Hope – when I am frustrated and angry and don’t know what to do.

+ You are the Sovereign Lord – You reign over me, my family, my country and the world I live in.
+ You are the Prince of Peace – You calm the storms and raging seas when I am feeling overwhelmed.
+ You are the Good Shepherd – You lead me to green pastures and still waters when I am in trouble.

God I look to You for the healing of my restless soul; quiet my mind, silence my mouth, and restore my soul – while I await Your word of wisdom and understanding. Through Jesus Christ, my Lord and Your Son, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, One God, forever and ever. Amen.

“God I Look to You” – Jenn Johnson

The Lord bless us, and keep us from all evil, and bring us to everlasting life.

+ In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen!
