Morning Prayer: Wed, 11 Jan – Psalm 34:4-5; Isaiah 60:1-3; Romans 8:27-28 ~ radiant joy

Wednesday of First Week in Ordinary Time 

+ In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen!

Opening Sentence

This day is Your gift to me;
I take it, Lord, from Your hand
and thank You for the wonder of it.

I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me. He freed me from all my fears. Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy; no shadow of shame will darken their faces.

Reading: Isaiah 60:1-3 (NLT)

“Arise, Jerusalem! Let your light shine for all to see. For the glory of the Lord rises to shine on you. Darkness as black as night covers all the nations of the earth, but the glory of the Lord rises and appears over you. All nations will come to your light; mighty kings will come to see your radiance.”

And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will. And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.

Prayer:

Come, let us tell of the Lord’s greatness; let us exalt his name together.

+ The Lord has answered me when I cried out to Him
+ The Lord has loved me and freed me from my fears
+ The Lord has delivered me from shame and filled me with joy
+ The Lord has displayed His glory in a world shrouded in darkness

Heavenly Father: Conform the desires of my heart to Your will and purpose, and fill me with radiant joy, through the transforming power of Your Spirit – who lives and reigns with You and Your Son, Jesus Christ, One God, forever. Amen.
