25 Days of Prayer for America – the foundation of justice

Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne. Unfailing love and truth walk before you as attendants.    – Psalm 89:14 (NLT)

IT IS CRITICAL THAT GOD’S PEOPLE VOTE! – Franklin Graham

The upcoming election is the most important in our lifetime. The presidential race isn’t about personalities – both candidates are flawed. What it really comes down to is the appointment of Supreme Court justices. The Supreme Court is the most powerful body of decision makers in our nation, and they serve life terms. Their beliefs matter. Many of the things they rule on are important to God – including issues like abortion, the definition of marriage, and religious freedoms.

The next president of the United States will immediately appoint one Supreme Court justice and may appoint up to a total of five while in office. The justices who are appointed will impact the direction of our country for the next hundred years. I urge everyone to research who the candidates say they will nominate for the highest court in the land.

Prayer: For Nominees to the Supreme Court

Heavenly Father: Our founders encoded a legal system in America based, however imperfectly, on our Judeo-Christian heritage with the Ten Commandments as the cornerstone. And yet, these basic, essential, values are currently under assault from all sides.

In this presidential election, You have given Americans the opportunity to stem the tide of secularism in our country. And so, I pray for the appointment of Supreme Court justices that will:

+ Lord, I pray for Supreme Court justices who will uphold the Sanctity of Life.

After eight years of the most pro-abortion president in American history, our choices seem abundantly clear: a continuation of a radical, pro-abortion agenda advancing its legality through nine months of pregnancy, or a course correction toward the sanctity of innocent human life. May voters choose life.

(Charmaine Yoest, Ph.D., a senior fellow at American Values in Washington, D.C., led a national pro-life organization for many years.)

+ Lord, I pray for Supreme Court justices who will uphold the traditional Definition of Marriage.

Unprecedented threats are coming through the militant LGBT agenda. Same-sex marriage and the abolition of gender eventually will have an impact on every religious institution and person.

When human sexuality is elevated to a civil right on par with race, discrimination laws that are now applied to race and ethnicity will be equally applied to sexual behavior….

The LGBT agenda will influence the hiring and firing of teachers and affect admissions, disciplines, student loans and facilities. Even churches will not be immune from such challenges.

Make no mistake about it—this attack is coercive, unyielding and highly aggressive. No one will be exempt.

(Mat Staver is the founder and chairman of Liberty Counsel, an international nonprofit litigation, education, and policy organization advancing religious freedom, the sanctity of life, and family.)

+ Lord, I pray for Supreme Court justices that will uphold Religious Freedom.

For more than 200 years, Americans could take religious liberty for granted. It was a fundamental characteristic of the United States—and one reason why the rest of the world saw this nation as a beacon of hope.

Not anymore. Now, America’s “first freedom” is in danger of being thrown on the trash heap.

The Obama administration, numerous judges and legislators, and in many cases the U.S. Supreme Court, seem eager to steamroll any state, business, school or individual that does not support the killing of unborn babies, the celebration of same-sex marriage or the obliteration of gender distinctions.

Some states, notably Oregon and Washington, have punished business owners and public officials for living according to their Christian faith.

(Bob Paulson author, Billy Graham Evangelistic Association)

Heavenly Father: Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne… and they are the foundation of America as best we are able to live them out. May unfailing love and truth go before Your people on November 8th as we head to the polls to cast our votes.

+ In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit – one God forever. Amen.

26 Days of Prayer for America – in God we trust

Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.

Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom. Instead, fear the Lord and turn away from evil. Then you will have healing for your body and strength for your bones. – Proverbs 3:5-8 (NLT)

I pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms. Now he is far above any ruler or authority or power or leader or anything else—not only in this world but also in the world to come. – Ephesians 1:19-21 (NLT)

Prayer: Trust in the Lord with all your heart

Lord God: Your people have always run into roadblocks on the way to freedom; and, sadly, we are prone to discouragement and despair when we do. Truthfully, we’re not a very trusting lot – Americans especially.

+ Lord, help us to trust You with all our hearts for the outcome of this Presidential election.
+ Lord, give us the strength and courage to persevere no matter how difficult the road ahead of us.
+ Lord, fill every believer with resurrection power – the power to overcome dead ends.
+ Lord, do not put Your people to shame – rescue us from the lies and deceit of the evil one.
+ Lord, vindicate our confidence in You by giving America a second chance to trust in You.
+ Lord, make a way back to You for America, where there is no way.

Lord God: May we keep moving in faith and trust You for the outcome. We ask, not for understanding, but for courage to persevere to the end. You are the sovereign Lord, both of this world and the world to come. Thank You for using this election cycle for good, whether we can see it or not. One day it will all be clear in the light of Your love.

+ In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit – one God forever. Amen.

When Jehu left there, he met Jehonadab son of Recab, who was coming to meet him. After they had greeted each other, Jehu said to him, “Are you as loyal to me as I am to you?”

“Yes, I am,” Jehonadab replied.

“If you are,” Jehu said, “then give me your hand.” So Jehonadab put out his hand, and Jehu helped him into the chariot.

Reading: Galatians 6:10 (NLT)

Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone—especially to those in the family of faith.

Prayer

It is your business and others’ to go forth, confronting them face to face, for that is the only way of bringing them to Me. For when you are face to face with them, you love them, and once you love them, then I can speak through you.

to seek for Christ in the stranger’s face

27 Days of Prayer for America – a loving Christian witness

“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them?  – Romans 10:13-14 (NLT)

Prayer: a loving Christian Witness

Heavenly Father – Over the past week we have seen the sinful nature of Donald Trump on full display before the whole world. It wasn’t pretty.

But, truth be told, everyone’s sinful nature is ugly; and no one can withstand the scrutiny of everything that we’ve said and done in private. We cringe at the thought of the final judgement when all of our sins will be laid bare before You. Apart from the cross of Christ, we are eternally damned.

And that’s the point, Lord. Even though You see how far we have fallen, You still love us and have given us Your Son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins that we may be presented faultless before You on the day of judgement. Jesus came to save us, not condemn us – and that’s the story to be told to our nation. There is redemption.

And so, I pray for Donald Trump – that this public humiliation would prepare his heart to hear and receive the Good News of Your love and forgiveness. Surround him with people who will befriend him, pray for him, and lovingly share the Gospel with him in a way that he can understand.

I pray, too, for all Americans – that we might examine our own lives, confess our own sins, private and public, and seek Your mercy and forgiveness. Prepare all of us for the day of judgement, and cover us with the blood of Christ that we may be presented faultless before You.

I also pray for those who have been quick to condemn and abandon Donald Trump. Forgive their hypocrisy for they are no better or worse than he is in Your sight. They will have their own day of reckoning when all will be made clear.

Thank You, heavenly Father, for Your desire that none should perish – we are all redeemable. Thank You, Lord Jesus, for paying the price of our redemption on the cross. Thank You, Holy Spirit, for empowering us to be loving witnesses of redemption in these troubling times.

+ In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit – one God forever. Amen.

Morning Prayer: Wed, 12 Oct – Psalm 119:73-78; Jeremiah 18:1-6; Romans 8:25-26 ~ made by God

+ In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen!

Opening Sentence

One thing I have asked of the Lord, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life; to behold the beauty of the Lord and to seek Him in His temple.

Reading: Psalm 119:73-78 (NLT)

You made me; you created me. Now give me the sense to follow your commands.

May all who fear you find in me a cause for joy, for I have put my hope in your word. I know, O Lord, that your regulations are fair; you disciplined me because I needed it. Now let your unfailing love comfort me, just as you promised me, your servant. Surround me with your tender mercies so I may live, for your instructions are my delight.  Bring disgrace upon the arrogant people who lied about me; meanwhile, I will concentrate on your commandments.

Reading: Jeremiah 18:1-6 (NLT)

The Lord gave another message to Jeremiah. He said, “Go down to the potter’s shop, and I will speak to you there.” So I did as he told me and found the potter working at his wheel. But the jar he was making did not turn out as he had hoped, so he crushed it into a lump of clay again and started over.

Then the Lord gave me this message:  “O Israel, can I not do to you as this potter has done to his clay? As the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are you in my hand.

Reading: Romans 8:25-26 (NLT)

If we look forward to something we don’t yet have, we must wait patiently and confidently.

And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words.

Prayer

O God, forgive the poverty and pettiness of our prayers. Listen not to our words, but to the yearning of our hearts. Hear beneath our petitions the crying of our need. (Peter Marshall)

I cannot speak, unless You loose my tongue; I only stammer, and I speak uncertainly; but if You touch my mouth, my Lord, then I will sing of Your wonders!

I have a dream that all the world will meet You, and know You, Jesus, in Your living power, that someday soon all people everywhere will hear Your story, and hear it in a way they understand.

So many who have heard forget to tell the story.

Here am I, my Jesus: teach me. (Caedmon)
