Peanut Gallery: We visited the Franciscan Monastery in Washington, DC on our 2013 March for Life pilgrimmage. They were most welcoming and delight in showing visitors who they are and what they are about, especially as “Custodians of the Holy Land.”

What are they up to here in America during the “Year of Faith?” Here’s a video – they’re taking it to the streets:

What is your Christian community doing to bring the light Christ to the world?

Special thanks to Rebecca Hamilton for bringing this to our attention.

Peanut Gallery: And now – for a good laugh…

One of the very first posts we ever did here concerned folks who take their appreciation for cuisine to a level to which I simply can’t relate.

I mention it because I recently was privy to a conversation where two such people were complaining to each other about the lack of locally available Arame (it goes on a salad, I guess?) and then began trading superlatives over the palatability of something called Bottarga (no clue…). When one of them began to discuss how Haggis was literally wrecking their marriage, I left the room.

Hey, I’m a simple guy with simple tastes. If food does it for you, knock yourself out. It’s only when it starts to ruin other people’s lives that I have to draw the line.

Which is what made me think of this post from last April. And so, here it is:

Silent No More: “I regret my abortion”

image

Peanut Gallery: At this year’s March for Life , women holding signs saying “I regret my abortion” were most courageous. These were women who had received post abortion help and healing through the good work of Silent No More Awareness.

Why is this ministry important? Because half of our country (USA) has been involved with abortion, in one way or another, and now they are living with the effects.

Many women and men are realizing the abortions they were involved in years ago are the source of the physical and emotional problems they have today….

Women: the feelings of guilt, anger, shame and worthlessness; their struggle with suicidal thoughts, drug/alcohol addiction to numb the pain, eating disorders or depression.

Men: the feelings pain, guilt, and anger.

How many Americans have been involved with abortion?

You do the math: 55 million abortions x 2 parents + at least one friend or family member who encouraged them to go ahead with it. Add it up… that’s 165 million Amercans… half the country in denial or depression of one sort or another… all because of abortion.

No wonder our country is in the mess it’s in.

So who are the Silent No More folks? Click on the link. They are there to help you… and they understand what you’ve been going through.

Whose crazy now? – 2013 March for Life – 40th Anniversary of Roe v Wade

Peanut Gallery: Since 1973 when the US Supreme Court legalized abortion, over 55 million babies have been killed. The numbers are staggering and continue to grow. Maybe this will help you get a handle on it –

Time: If you counted 1 baby per second, it would take you 1 yr and 9 months to get to 55 million, and by then an additional 2,400,000 babies would have been aborted. In fact, 3 more babies will be aborted in the time it takes for you to read this post.

Population: 55 million abortions is the approxomate equivalent of eliminating everyone living in the States of Califonia and New York… or wiping out everyone who lives in the United Kingdom, or Italy. It would cut Mexico’s population in half… or eliminate every Canadian with 20 million deaths to spare.

Deadly comparisons: The Atomic Bombs dropped on Nagasaki and Hiroshima killed an estimated 250,000 people… and the Holocaust killed 6 million Jews.

55 million dead American babies is a mind boggling number.

Abortion: “Safe, legal and rare?” That’s what pro-death politicians tell us they want. Rare… really? They get all excited about 20 kids getting shot by some random mental case (a vivid example of the reality of evil) and want to ban guns… but have no problem funding America’s baby-killing machine, Planned Parenthood – 334,000 children killed in 2011… and the government (We the people) paid these “contract killers” $538 million to do it.

So who are the crazies in America, the people sitting safe and warm on their couches yawning, “oh well”… or the people in the streets yelling, “Enough!” My wife and I threw our lot in with the folks in the streets… in 20 degree snowy weather.

Here are a few links to others who covered the 2013 March for Life – worth the read:

And here are some of my random phone/photos of the 2013 March for Life in Washington, DC – these are NOT the crazy ones.

Sunday Reading:1 Corinthians 12:12-14, 27 NLT – one Body

Reading:1 Corinthians 12:12-14, 27 NLT

“The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body. So it is with the body of Christ. Some of us are Jews, some are Gentiles, some are slaves, and some are free. But we have all been baptized into one body by one Spirit, and we all share the same Spirit.

Yes, the body has many different parts, not just one part. All of you together are Christ’s body, and each of you is a part of it.”

Prayer: one Lord, one faith, one baptism. Make us One Lord… for your Name’s sake. Amen.
