Who is Mitt Romney?

Peanut Gallery: I’m not really a big Romney fan… I voted for Gingrich when I had a chance here in the South Carolina primary… as a protest against the GOP Establishment.

But here I am and Romney is my only choice… if I care anything about Life, Religious Freedom, Family Values, Economic Solvency, and America as an exceptional nation – "a shining light on a hill." Oh… and did I mention Health Care, Education, Medicare, Social Security, Immigration, National Security, Israel and Judeo-Christian values. I know I've forgotten something….

So… I really have no choice but to vote for Romney (except not to vote at all, I suppose, which would be a total dereliction of public responsibility – as far as I'm concerned.) But who is Mitt Romney?

Why not let him tell you his own story… instead of relying on a hostile media and his deceiptful opposition? Here's a link to his home page – click here. Is he putting his best foot forward? Of course, there’s a lot at stake in this election. So filter what you read through honest skepticism.

But in the end you will not be able to escape the reality that Romney is an accomplished, essentially decent man with basic American values and a desire to restore the American dream. So check him out – maintain a healthy skepticism – and consider the alternative.

God help us!

Liar, liar… Political Word Games – Thomas Sowell

In short, he is simply lying.

Now there are different kinds of liars. If we must have lying Presidents of the United States, I prefer that they be like Richard Nixon. You could just look at him and tell that he was lying.

But Obama is much smoother. On this and on many other issues, you would have to know what the facts are to know that he is lying. He is obviously counting on the fact that, in this era of dumbed-down education, many people have no clue as to what the facts are.

Political Word Games – Thomas Sowell – Townhall Conservative Columnists

One of the highly developed talents of President Barack Obama is the ability to say things that are demonstrably false, and make them sound not only plausible but inspiring.

That talent was displayed just this week when he was asked whether he thought the Supreme Court would uphold ObamaCare as constitutional or strike it down as unconstitutional.

He replied: “I’m confident that the Supreme Court will not take what would be an unprecedented, extraordinary step of overturning a law that was passed by a strong majority of a democratically elected Congress.”

But how unprecedented would it actually be if the Supreme Court declared a law unconstitutional if it was passed by “a strong majority of a democratically elected Congress”? Continue reading “Liar, liar… Political Word Games – Thomas Sowell”

Obama – the man with no shame

Obama Slams Supreme Court over Obamacare – Heritage Morning Bell – Mike Brownfield – April 3, 2012 at 8:33 am

“The irony in all this is that this President has presided over an Administration that is the epitome of recklessly abusing power, at times in flagrant violation of the Constitution, and has empowered unelected bureaucrats to write scads of new regulations impacting nearly every corner of American life.”

Obama Slams Supreme Court over Obamacare.

The highest elected official in the United States dished out an extra helping of irony yesterday when, in speaking at a joint news conference with Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Mexican President Felipe Calderon, President Barack Obama slammed the Supreme Court as an “unelected group of people” who will have turned to “judicial activism or a lack of judicial restraint” if they strike down Obamacare.

The President’s remarks imply that the Court, were it to rule the individual mandate unconstitutional, would be acting recklessly in undertaking judicial review of Congress’ unprecedented use of the Commerce Clause to force Americans to buy health care or pay a penalty. Overview: Supreme Court Obamacare Hearings – Heritage

Peanut Gallery: For those who haven’t been paying attention, here’s a summary of where we are now. It’s in the Supremes’ Court now…

America waits for the Court to decide, two years after a severely divided Congress passed Obamacare and stretched its powers beyond the Constitution. But whether the Court upholds Obamacare or strikes it down, all or in part, it does not have the final say on this issue. It ultimately falls to the American people, through their representatives in Congress, to decide the future of health care in America and whether the federal government will live within its constitutional limits. Obamacare must be fully repealed.

What Happened in the Supreme Court Obamacare Hearings.
Mike BrownfieldMarch 29, 2012 at 8:46 am

For the past three days, the nine justices of the U.S. Supreme Court heard a series of arguments on Obamacare — what promises to be one of the most seminal decisions in the Court’s history. Now that the dust has settled, it appears more than likely that President Obama’s signature health care law is on the verge of being struck down — perhaps even in its entirety.
