AU Attempts to Intimidate 60,000 Pastors (Public Catholic)

Warning Letter to 60,000 Pastors: We’re Watching What You Preach

Americans United for Separation of Church and State evidently sent copies of this letter to 60,000 pastors recently. It’s important to remember that Americans United is not an official agency of any governmental entity. This letter has no force of law and is just their opinion. Our local AU affiliate here in Oklahoma has sent similar letters to pastors in my House district in the past. The pastors I talked to about it tell me they threw it in the trash.

Please pray for Moroccan people.

August 29 | Morocco – The church is growing in unity and action as a result of a strong basis of prayer and respect. Please pray also for a genuine love for studying the Bible deeply and for an application of the lessons in daily life. Pray for an extension of the study program inside the country.

Morocco has a population of over 32 million people, approx 22,000 are Christian. Proselytising is strictly forbidden and converts from Islam can pay a heavy price – see Open Doors link.

This Wikipedia article will give you some background on Morocco – click here – but the plight of Christians is better told here – Open Doors link.

In Morocco, Christian expats have a degree of freedom to assemble and worship. The difficulty comes with faith sharing.

“But even if you suffer for doing what is right, God will reward you for it. So don’t worry or be afraid of their threats. Instead, you must worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks about your Christian hope, always be ready to explain it. But do this in a gentle and respectful way. Keep your conscience clear. Then if people speak against you, they will be ashamed when they see what a good life you live because you belong to Christ.” 1 Peter 3.14-16 NLT

Please pray for God to provide opportunities for Christians to explain the reason for their hope in Christ… and that Christians would have a story to tell and a lifestyle that proves it.

Peanut Gallery: Denial doesn’t help anyone.

“Persecution of any religious believer is a moral outrage, a violation of individual conscience and assault on human dignity. But the principle source of religious persecution today is unambiguous: Islam. As Open Doors emphasizes, 38 of 50 persecutors are Muslim. Nine of the top ten and the three largest risers (Northern Nigeria, Egypt, and Sudan) are Muslim. Islamic extremism is the “usual suspect” among persecutors around the world.”

Open Doors has released its World Watch List of the 50 worst persecutors of Christians worldwide.

Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty, said Thomas Jefferson, and that includes religious freedom. Religious persecution is tragically common abroad.

While members of all faiths are sometimes at risk somewhere, Christians are constantly victimized almost everywhere. And in many of these cases the threat is violence, imprisonment, and even death. Martyrdom apparently is more common today than during Roman times.

The California-based group Open Doors has released its latest World Watch List of the 50 worst persecutors of Christians around the globe. A Baker’s Dozen are communist or former communist states, led by North Korea. An incredible 38 are Muslim, including several of Washington’s allies. (Seven are both communist/former communist and Islamic, truly a toxic combination.) The other six are a potpourri — Hindu India, Buddhist Burma and Bhutan, conflict-ridden Colombia, and Eritrea and Ethiopia, which are both repressive and religiously divided.
