After Pentecost | Wednesday 29 May 2024

+ In the Name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Opening:

O Lord,
we entreat you mercifully to hear us,
and grant that we,
to whom you have given the desire to pray,
may by your mighty aid
be defended and comforted in all our adversities;
through Jesus Christ our Lord,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

“[Jesus] went on to say,
“Pay attention to what you’re listening to!
⌞Knowledge⌟ will be measured out to you
by the measure ⌞of attention⌟ you give.
This is the way knowledge increases.

(Mark 4:24)

From Psalms: Psalm 20Poor Bishop Hooper

may god answer your distresses
may the name of jacob’s god
send you help and give protection
and remember your offerings

the desires of your heart i
hope he makes them all come true
we will shout for victory
and raise our banners for the king

i know that the lord will answer
and deliver his chosen one
some place trust in mighty horses
but the name of our holy god

is our saving power
is our trust
but the name of god

How Aaron and His Sons Will Bless the Israelites

6:22 The Lord said to Moses, “Tell Aaron and his sons, ‘This is how you will bless the Israelites. Say to them:

The Lord will bless you and watch over you.
The Lord will smile on you and be kind to you.
The Lord will look on you with favor and give you peace.’

“So whenever they use my name to bless the Israelites, I will bless them.”

A Story about a Lamp

4:21 Jesus said to them, “Does anyone bring a lamp into a room to put it under a basket or under a bed? Isn’t it put on a lamp stand? There is nothing hidden that will not be revealed. There is nothing kept secret that will not come to light. Let the person who has ears listen!”

He went on to say, “Pay attention to what you’re listening to! ⌞Knowledge⌟ will be measured out to you by the measure ⌞of attention⌟ you give. This is the way knowledge increases. Those who understand ⌞these mysteries⌟ will be given ⌞more knowledge⌟. However, some people don’t understand ⌞these mysteries⌟. Even what they understand will be taken away from them.”

Prayer: ACNA | BCP2019

+O God, by whom the meek are guided in judgment, and light rises up in darkness for the godly: Grant us, in all our  doubts and uncertainties, the grace to ask what you would have us do, that the Spirit of wisdom may save us from all  false choices; that in your light we may see light, and in your straight path we may not stumble; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

+ Sovereign Lord: We pray for the peace of Jerusalem:

    • Protect Israel from the fiery darts of the evil one coming from every direction, both within and without.
    • Grant your heavenly wisdom to those guiding Israel militarily, politically, diplomatically; give them hearts to receive, and the courage to do, what’s right in your sight.
    • Comfort those who grieve and mourn the loss of loved ones, and rebuke those who would use grief for evil purposes.
    • Bring swift and certain justice to all those complicit in the Oct 7th atrocities; deliver the hostages from captivity, and restore their souls.
    • Send your heavenly hosts to destroy every stronghold of the evil death cult terrorizing the Middle East.
    • Strengthen the Messianic communities – Jew and Arab alike – bind them together in love, that they may be a source of help, healing, and hope;
    • And use them in the restoration of your people to their proper place in your Kingdom.
    • We pray in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

+ Heavenly Father, you have promised to hear what we ask in the Name of your Son: Accept and fulfill our petitions,  we pray, not as we ask in our ignorance, nor as we deserve in our sinfulness, but as you know and love us in your Son  Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

+ In the Name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Opening:

O God, the protector of all those who trust in you, without
whom nothing is strong, nothing is holy: Increase and multiply
upon us your mercy, that, with you as our ruler and guide, we
may so pass through things temporal that we lose not the things
eternal; grant this, heavenly Father, for the sake of your Son
Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

“Pay attention to what you hear:
with the measure you use, it will be measured to you,
and still more will be added to you.”

Aaron’s Blessing

6:22  The Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying, Thus you shall bless the people of Israel: you shall say to them,

The Lord bless you and keep you;
the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you;
the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.

“So shall they put my name upon the people of Israel, and I will bless them.”

A Lamp Under a Basket

4:21  And he said to them, “Is a lamp brought in to be put under a basket, or under a bed, and not on a stand? For nothing is hidden except to be made manifest; nor is anything secret except to come to light. If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear.” And he said to them, “Pay attention to what you hear: with the measure you use, it will be measured to you, and still more will be added to you. For to the one who has, more will be given, and from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away.”
