The Voting Booth has become a Confessional Booth for every believer. Our “secret ballot” is not hidden from God.

The Catholic vote may decide this election.

Catholics swung to Obama decisively four years ago. A Pew poll shows they’ve swung decisively back toward Republicans nationally. Their party platform has generated a strong rebuke from Bishop Thomas Paprocki of the Springfield, Illinois diocese. He talked about the whole “God” controversy and His original exclusion from their platform:

“After outcries of protest from outside as well as within the Democratic Party, the sentence with the same reference to God used in 2008 was restored to read, “We need a government that stands up for the hopes, values and interests of working people, and gives everyone willing to work hard the chance to make the most of their God-given potential.”

Before anyone relaxes and concludes that all is well now that the Democratic Party Platform contains a single passing reference to God, the way that this was done should…

Charles Krauthammer: Why Roberts did it – The Washington Post.

By Charles Krauthammer, Published: June 28

It’s the judiciary’s Nixon-to-China: Chief Justice John Roberts joins the liberal wing of the Supreme Court and upholds the constitutionality of Obamacare. How? By pulling off one of the great constitutional finesses of all time. He managed to uphold the central conservative argument against Obamacare, while at the same time finding a narrow definitional dodge to uphold the law — and thus prevented the court from being seen as having overturned, presumably on political grounds, the signature legislation of this administration. Peanut Gallery: Freedom’s last stand….

Sadly, that “shining city upon a hill whose beacon of light which guides freedom-loving people everywhere” as Ronald Reagan described the United States in his farewell address to the nation is dimming…. fading…. and quickly. We have very little time to stop this nation from going further down the dark abyss of tyranny. Both decisions, but especially the Obamacare decision, makes it an apparent necessity for citizens to vote out the big government freedom-hating Obama. Libertarians, conservatives, independents, republicans, and democrats who love liberty must vote for Mitt Romney to stem the bleeding and start the recovery process to regain lost liberties.

Catholic Bishops Take on Obama

Now the bishops have made clear that the contraception mandate must be rescinded, because, in their view, even a more expansive exemption cannot sufficiently protect religious freedom.

Catholic Bishops Take on Obama.

7:05 AM, APR 23, 2012 • BY VINCENT PHILLIP MUÑOZ

The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has taken a bold stand for religious freedom. In a recent statement, titled “Our First, Most Cherished Liberty,” the bishops call for repeal of contraception coverage mandated by the Department of Health and Human Services. The clarified position sets up a dramatic confrontation with the Obama administration—and would, if the bishops prevail, help preserve the religious liberty of all Americans.

The HHS mandate requires employers to provide insurance coverage for contraception and sterilization services. It is, according to the bishops, an “unjust law.” They write: “It cannot be obeyed and therefore one does not seek relief from it, but rather its repeal.”

The statement is a rebuke of President Obama and the so-called accommodation his administration proposed in February. It also raises the stakes between the president and the leaders of America’s Catholic Church.

The bishops call on Catholics in America, “in solidarity with our fellow citizens,” not to obey the law. Continue reading “Catholic Bishops Take on Obama”

Obama – the man with no shame

Obama Slams Supreme Court over Obamacare – Heritage Morning Bell – Mike Brownfield – April 3, 2012 at 8:33 am

“The irony in all this is that this President has presided over an Administration that is the epitome of recklessly abusing power, at times in flagrant violation of the Constitution, and has empowered unelected bureaucrats to write scads of new regulations impacting nearly every corner of American life.”

Obama Slams Supreme Court over Obamacare.

The highest elected official in the United States dished out an extra helping of irony yesterday when, in speaking at a joint news conference with Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Mexican President Felipe Calderon, President Barack Obama slammed the Supreme Court as an “unelected group of people” who will have turned to “judicial activism or a lack of judicial restraint” if they strike down Obamacare.

The President’s remarks imply that the Court, were it to rule the individual mandate unconstitutional, would be acting recklessly in undertaking judicial review of Congress’ unprecedented use of the Commerce Clause to force Americans to buy health care or pay a penalty.
