After Pentecost | Thursday 29 Jun 2023

+ In the Name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Opening:

Lord of all power and might,
the author and giver of all good things:
Graft in our hearts the love of your Name,
increase in us true faith and worship,
nourish us with all goodness,
and bring forth in us the fruit of good works;
through Jesus Christ our Lord,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

“When we place our faith in Christ Jesus….
What is important
is faith expressing itself in love.”

(Galatians 5:6)

OT Reading: Jeremiah 25:1-7 (NLT)

Seventy Years of Captivity

25:1 This message for all the people of Judah came to Jeremiah from the Lord during the fourth year of Jehoiakim’s reign over Judah. This was the year when King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon began his reign.

Jeremiah the prophet said to all the people in Judah and Jerusalem, “For the past twenty-three years—from the thirteenth year of the reign of Josiah son of Amon, king of Judah, until now—the Lord has been giving me his messages. I have faithfully passed them on to you, but you have not listened.

“Again and again the Lord has sent you his servants, the prophets, but you have not listened or even paid attention. Each time the message was this: ‘Turn from the evil road you are traveling and from the evil things you are doing. Only then will I let you live in this land that the Lord gave to you and your ancestors forever. Do not provoke my anger by worshiping idols you made with your own hands. Then I will not harm you.’

“But you would not listen to me,” says the Lord. “You made me furious by worshiping idols you made with your own hands, bringing on yourselves all the disasters you now suffer.

Come, Let Us Return to the Lord ~ Galkin Evangelistic Team

All of us like sheep have gone astray
Seeking our own way
We’ve left the Shepherd’s care again
Through the wilderness we wander
In the hopelessness of sin
We must run into His arms from where we’ve been

Oh come let us return to the Lord
Let our hearts yearn for the Lord
Only His love will save us
For though our lives are broken He will mend
And restore our hope again
Let us return to the Lord
Let us return to the Lord

By His grace alone we have been saved
Rescued from the grave
And through His blood we have moved on
May the passion of our first love
Bring us to our knees
We can know the heart of God
If we believe

So, come let us return to the Lord
Let our hearts yearn for the Lord
Only His love will save us
For though our lives are broken He will mend
And restore our hope again
Let us return to the Lord
Let us return

To the One who breaks our heart so He can heal us
To the One who binds our wounds and knows our scars
Let us return to the Lord
Let our hearts yearn for the Lord
Only His love will save us
For though our lives are broken
He will mend
And restore our hope again
Let us return to the Lord
Let us return to the Lord

For though our lives are broken
He will mend
And restore our hope again
Let us return to the Lord
Let us return to the Lord
Let us return to the Lord

NT Reading: Galatians 5:2-6 (NLT)

5:2 Listen! I, Paul, tell you this: If you are counting on circumcision to make you right with God, then Christ will be of no benefit to you. I’ll say it again. If you are trying to find favor with God by being circumcised, you must obey every regulation in the whole law of Moses. For if you are trying to make yourselves right with God by keeping the law, you have been cut off from Christ! You have fallen away from God’s grace.

But we who live by the Spirit eagerly wait to receive by faith the righteousness God has promised to us. For when we place our faith in Christ Jesus, there is no benefit in being circumcised or being uncircumcised. What is important is faith expressing itself in love.
