+ In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen
Opening prayer:
Almighty and everlasting God,
you have given to us your servants grace,
by the confession of a true faith,
to acknowledge the glory of the eternal Trinity,
and in the power of your divine Majesty
to worship the Unity:
Keep us steadfast in this faith and worship,
and bring us at last to see you
in your one and eternal glory, O Father;
who with the Son and the Holy Spirit live and reign,
one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
Then he touched their eyes, saying,
“According to your faith be it done to you.”
And their eyes were opened.

OT Reading: Proverbs 11:3-13 (ESV)
11:3 The integrity of the upright guides them,
but the crookedness of the treacherous destroys them.
+ Riches do not profit in the day of wrath,
but righteousness delivers from death.
+ The righteousness of the blameless keeps his way straight,
but the wicked falls by his own wickedness.
+ The righteousness of the upright delivers them,
but the treacherous are taken captive by their lust.
+ When the wicked dies, his hope will perish,
and the expectation of wealth perishes too.
+ The righteous is delivered from trouble,
and the wicked walks into it instead.
+ With his mouth the godless man would destroy his neighbor,
but by knowledge the righteous are delivered.
+ When it goes well with the righteous, the city rejoices,
and when the wicked perish there are shouts of gladness.
+ By the blessing of the upright a city is exalted,
but by the mouth of the wicked it is overthrown.
+ Whoever belittles his neighbor lacks sense,
but a man of understanding remains silent.
+ Whoever goes about slandering reveals secrets,
but he who is trustworthy in spirit keeps a thing covered.

NT Reading: Matthew 9:27-34 (ESV)
Jesus Heals Two Blind Men
9:27 And as Jesus passed on from there, two blind men followed him, crying aloud, “Have mercy on us, Son of David.” When he entered the house, the blind men came to him, and Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” They said to him, “Yes, Lord.”
Then he touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith be it done to you.” And their eyes were opened. And Jesus sternly warned them, “See that no one knows about it.” But they went away and spread his fame through all that district.
Jesus Heals a Man Unable to Speak
9:32 As they were going away, behold, a demon-oppressed man who was mute was brought to him. And when the demon had been cast out, the mute man spoke. And the crowds marveled, saying, “Never was anything like this seen in Israel.” But the Pharisees said, “He casts out demons by the prince of demons.”

O God, the creator and preserver of all mankind, we humbly pray for all sorts and conditions of men; that you would be pleased to make your ways known to them, your saving health to all nations.
+ More especially we pray for your holy Church universal, that it may be so guided and governed by your good Spirit, that all who profess and call themselves Christians may be led into the way of truth, and hold the faith in unity of spirit, in the bond of peace, and in righteousness of life.
+ Finally, we commend to your fatherly goodness all those who are in any ways afflicted or distressed, in mind, body, or estate; that it may please you to comfort and relieve them according to their several necessities, giving them patience under their sufferings, and a happy issue out of all their afflictions.
+ And this we plead for Jesus Christ’s sake. Amen.
Almighty God, we pray for the peace of Jerusalem: Intervene in ways that only you can, so the whole world will know that you alone are God. Protect your people from the assaults of the evil one, and grant Israel’s leaders the wisdom and courage to do what’s right in your sight. Deliver all the hostages from captivity, and restore their souls. Comfort those who grieve and mourn the loss of loved ones. Protect the innocent and punish the guilty, that all may live in peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
