CBO: Obamacare $800 billion over estimates

Peanut Gallery: Has the government ever come in under budget on anything?

President Obama’s national health care law will cost $1.76 trillion over a decade, according to a new projection released today by the Congressional Budget Office, rather than the $940 billion forecast when it was signed into law.

Democrats employed many accounting tricks when they were pushing through the national health care legislation, the most egregious of which was to delay full implementation of the law until 2014, so it would appear cheaper under the CBO’s standard ten-year budget window and, at least on paper, meet Obama’s pledge that the legislation would cost “around $900 billion over 10 years.” When the final CBO score came out before passage, critics noted that the true 10 year cost would be far higher than advertised once projections accounted for full implementation.

Morning Reading: Malachi 4 NLT

“Look, I am sending you the prophet Elijah before the great and dreadful day of the LORD arrives. His preaching will turn the hearts of fathers to their children, and the hearts of children to their fathers. Otherwise I will come and strike the land with a curse.”

The LORD of Heaven’s Armies says, “The day of judgment is coming, burning like a furnace. On that day the arrogant and the wicked will be burned up like straw. They will be consumed—roots, branches, and all.

2 “But for you who fear my name, the Sun of Righteousness will rise with healing in his wings.t And you will go free, leaping with joy like calves let out to pasture.

3 On the day when I act, you will tread upon the wicked as if they were dust under your feet,” says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies.

4 “Remember to obey the Law of Moses, my servant—all the decrees and regulations that I gave him on Mount Sinait for all Israel.

5 “Look, I am sending you the prophet Elijah before the great and dreadful day of the LORD arrives.

6 His preaching will turn the hearts of fathers to their children, and the hearts of children to their fathers. Otherwise I will come and strike the land with a curse.”

Days of Elijah

Evening Reading: John 1.4-5 NLT

“The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.”

Light of all lights… please click on audio link – Light of all lights

There’s a light that shines for the world tonight
A love that will not cease
Until the wounded find their healing
And the poor have found their peace

It’s the future for our children’s lives
The hopes of every man
That one day all will see
The light of all lights

Do you hear there’s a whisper on the wild winds
A distant cry that is calling through the storm

There’s a light that shines for the world tonight
A hope that we can bring
For those whose hearts lie broken
There is healing in Your wings

There is comfort for the lonely soul
Friend of the suffering
Gentle King of kings
And light of all lights

Do you hear there’s a whisper on the wild winds
A distant cry that is calling through the storm

Oh wounded hands of a shepherd king
Come break my heart of stone
And bring me to the lost ones
So that I may lead them home

Let me echo Your compassion
To the fragile and the frail
Oh love that never fails
And light of all lights
