We are told that many blows had been inflicted upon them.

It had been a long day and it was now about Midnight.

About Midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God… – Acts 16:25 ESV

I wish I could say that, when things seem to be dark and hopeless, I pray and sing praises to God.  Often, that is not the case. “One of the things I learned as president is you represent the entire country,” Obama said.

“If you want to be president, you have to work for everyone.”

“They didn’t vote for me and what I said on election night was: ‘Even though you didn’t vote for me, I hear your voices, and I’m going to work as hard as I can to be your president.’ ”
