+ In the Name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Opening:

O Lord God, grant your people grace
to withstand the temptations of
the world, the flesh, and the devil,
and with pure hearts and minds to follow you,
the only God;
through Jesus Christ our Lord,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen.

“If your faith is the size of a mustard seed….
Nothing will be impossible for you.”

Wise People Live Righteously

14:1 The wisest of women builds up her home,
but a stupid one tears it down with her own hands.
Whoever lives right fears the Lord,
but a person who is devious in his ways despises him.
Because of a stubborn fool’s words a whip is lifted against him,
but wise people are protected by their speech.

Where there are no cattle, the feeding trough is empty,
but the strength of an ox produces plentiful harvests.
A trustworthy witness does not lie,
but a dishonest witness breathes lies.
A mocker searches for wisdom without finding it,
but knowledge comes easily to a person who has understanding.

Stay away from a fool,
because you will not receive knowledge from his lips.
The wisdom of a sensible person guides his way of life,
but the stupidity of fools misleads them.
Stubborn fools make fun of guilt,
but there is forgiveness among decent people.

Jesus Cures a Demon-Possessed Boy

17:14 When they came to a crowd, a man came up to Jesus, knelt in front of him, and said, “Sir, have mercy on my son. He suffers from seizures. Often he falls into fire or water. I brought him to your disciples, but they couldn’t cure him.”

Jesus replied, “You unbelieving and corrupt generation! How long must I be with you? How long must I put up with you? Bring him here to me!”

Jesus ordered the demon to come out of the boy. At that moment the boy was cured.

Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and asked, “Why couldn’t we force the demon out of the boy?”

He told them, “Because you have so little faith. I can guarantee this truth: If your faith is the size of a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”

Prayer: ACNA | BCP2019

+ O God of peace, who has taught us that in returning and rest we shall be saved, in quietness and in confidence shall be our strength: Lift us into your presence, by the might of your Spirit, where we may be still and know that you are God; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

+ Go before us, O Lord, in all our doings with your most gracious favor, and further us with your continual help; that in all our works begun, continued, and ended in you, we may glorify your holy Name, and finally, through your mercy, obtain everlasting life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

+ Sovereign Lord: We pray for the peace of Jerusalem:

    • Protect Israel from the fiery darts of the evil one coming from every direction, both within and without.
    • Grant your heavenly wisdom to those guiding Israel militarily, politically, and diplomatically;
    • Give them hearts to receive, and the courage to do, what’s right in your sight.
    • Comfort those who grieve and mourn the loss of loved ones;
    • Rebuke those who would use grief for evil purposes.
    • Bring swift and certain justice to all those complicit in the October 7th atrocities;
    • Deliver the hostages from captivity, and restore their souls.
    • Destroy every stronghold of the evil death cult terrorizing the Middle East.
    • Strengthen the Messianic communities – Jew and Arab alike – bind them together in love, that they may be a source of help, and healing, and hope;
    • Use them in the restoration of your people to their proper place in your Kingdom.
    • We pray in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

+ O God, of your goodness, give me yourself, for you are enough for me. I can ask for nothing less that is completely to your honor, and if I do ask  anything less, I shall always be in want. Only in you I have all. Amen.
