After Pentecost | Thursday 01 Jun 2023
+ In the Name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Opening:
O God, who on Pentecost
taught the hearts of your faithful people
by sending to them the light of your Holy Spirit:
Grant us by the same Spirit
to have a right judgment in all things,
and evermore to rejoice in his holy comfort;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who lives and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God,
for ever and ever. Amen.
With the strength God gives you,
be ready to suffer with me
for the sake of the Good News.
(2 Timothy 1:8b)

OT Reading: Job 38:1-11 (NLT)
The Lord Challenges Job
38:1 Then the Lord answered Job from the whirlwind:
“Who is this that questions my wisdom
with such ignorant words?
Brace yourself like a man,
because I have some questions for you,
and you must answer them.
“Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth?
Tell me, if you know so much.
Who determined its dimensions
and stretched out the surveying line?
What supports its foundations,
and who laid its cornerstone
as the morning stars sang together
and all the angels shouted for joy?
“Who kept the sea inside its boundaries
as it burst from the womb,
and as I clothed it with clouds
and wrapped it in thick darkness?
For I locked it behind barred gates,
limiting its shores.
I said, ‘This far and no farther will you come.
Here your proud waves must stop!’

NT Reading: 2 Timothy 1:8-12a (NLT)
1:8 So never be ashamed to tell others about our Lord. And don’t be ashamed of me, either, even though I’m in prison for him.
With the strength God gives you, be ready to suffer with me for the sake of the Good News. For God saved us and called us to live a holy life. He did this, not because we deserved it, but because that was his plan from before the beginning of time—to show us his grace through Christ Jesus. And now he has made all of this plain to us by the appearing of Christ Jesus, our Savior. He broke the power of death and illuminated the way to life and immortality through the Good News. And God chose me to be a preacher, an apostle, and a teacher of this Good News.
That is why I am suffering here in prison.

I Am Not Ashamed || Heritage Singers
We’re an anchor for those who are hurting
We’re a harbor for those who are lost
Sometimes it’s not always easy bearing Calvary’s cross
We’ve been ridiculed by those who don’t know Him
And mocked by those who don’t believe
Still I love standing up for my Jesus
‘Cause of all that He’s done for me
… That’s why I am not ashamed of the Gospel
The Gospel of Jesus Christ
No, I am not afraid to be counted
And I’m willing to give my life
See I’m ready to be all He wants me to be
Give up the wrong for the right
No, I am not ashamed of the Gospel
No, I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ
… For every moment His hand has held mercy
For all the love that He’s shown all my life
A simple thanks doesn’t say how I’m feeling
I get tears in my eyes
So as for me, I’m gonna keep on believin’
In the One whose been so faithful to me
I’m not out to please this whole world around me
I’ve got my mind on eternity
… That’s why I am not ashamed of the Gospel
The Gospel of Jesus Christ
No, I am not afraid to be counted
And I’m willing to give my life
See I’m ready to be all He wants me to be
Give up the wrong for the right
No, I am not ashamed of the Gospel
No, I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ
… I’ve got too much behind me
To let this world bind me
To some He’s a name
But to me, He’s my everything
… I am not ashamed of the Gospel
No, I am not ashamed of the Gospel
To some He’s a name but to me He’s my everything
I am not ashamed of the Gospel
No, I am not ashamed of the Gospel
No, I am not ashamed of the Gospel
Of Jesus Christ

Prayer: FaithandWorship.com | John Birch
Breathe in me O Holy Spirit
that my thoughts may all be holy;
Act in me O Holy Spirit
that my works, too, may be holy;
Draw my heart O Holy Spirit
that I love but what is holy;
Strengthen me O Holy Spirit
to defend that is holy;
Guard me then O Holy Spirit
that I always may be holy.
