Morning Reading: Psalm 100 – “be thankful“

Psalm 100:1-5 NKJV

Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands!

image

Serve the Lord with gladness; Come before His presence with singing.

Know that the Lord, He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.

Enter into His gates with thanksgiving,  And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.

For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, And His truth  endures to all generations.

Re-post: Preaching on Abortion- Fr. Frank Pavone

Preaching on Abortion

Fr. Frank Pavone
National Director of Priests for Life

10/13/1997

Because of my full-time position as National Director of Priests for Life, I have preached on abortion every day since 1993 in every state of the country. I have carefully watched the reaction of God’s people, and have attentively listened to their comments.

The two remarks that best summarize the response of the people to a clear and compassionate homily on abortion are “Thank you” and “We need to hear more of this.”

I cannot count the letters and emails that come into our Priests for Life office from people who want to hear their priest preach more about this topic. These letters come from attorneys, doctors, police officers, judges–in fact, from people of every profession and walk of life. They even come from children.

Priests for Life conducts training seminars for clergy to help them discover their own fears and hesitations about preaching on abortion. One of our publications is Fathers, Let’s Face our Fears about Abortion, and identifies twenty-two of the most common fears.

One of them is the fear of hurting those in the congregation who have had abortions. Yet this fear overlooks the fact that silence hurts them more.

Shop “Christmas-friendly“ beginning at Wal-Mart

Peanut Gallery: Are you tired of the secular crowd stifling your Christmas joy… with a wimpy “happy holidays“ greeting? I am! So this list of Christmas-friendly stores is a welcome shopping guide.

Wouldn’t you know it… that “evil, wicked, mean, bad, and nasty“ Walmart heads the list of “nice“ stores. Check them out and give one of their “oldies” greeters a hearty “Merry Christmas“… and don’t forget the Salvation Army folks outside.

Jobbik legislator Marton Gyöngyösi’s remarks about Jews have been condemned.

BUDAPEST, HUNGARY (BosNewsLife)– The United States on Tuesday, November 27, condemned calls by an influential Hungarian far-right parliamentarian to draw up lists of Jews who pose a “national security risk”, a proposal resembling the Nazi-era.

Marton Gyöngyösi, a leader of Hungary’s third-strongest political party ‘Movement for a Better Hungary’ (Jobbik) said the list was necessary because of heightened tensions following the brief conflict in Gaza and should include members of parliament.

“I know how many people with Hungarian ancestry live in Israel, and how many Israeli Jews live in Hungary,” he told parliament on Monday, November 26.

“I think such a conflict makes it timely to tally up people of Jewish ancestry who live here, especially in the Hungarian Parliament and the Hungarian government, who, indeed, pose a national security risk to Hungary,” he added.

Gyöngyösi, 35, said the country’s foreign ministry had “rushed to make an oath of allegiance to Israel.”

U.S. CONDEMNATION

In a statement to BosNewsLife, the U.S. embassy in Budapest said, “The United States utterly rejects and condemns in the strongest terms the outrageous anti-Semitic remarks made on the floor of Parliament by a Jobbik parliamentarian on November 26.”

“Shout to the Lord” – YouTube w/ Darlene Zschech

Shout to the Lord all the Earth, let us sing
Power and majesty praise to the King
Mountains bow down and the seas will roar
At the sound of Your name

I sing for joy at the work of Your hands
Forever I’ll love You forever I’ll stand
Nothing compares to the promise I have
In You
