darrellcreswell's avatarDarrell Creswell - A Study of Christian Grace

Christ Jesus is “the sun of righteousness”; He is our righteousness as the Son of God. As a man He was pure, and righteousness was displayed in all His actions. During His life He was perfect and pure as a man.  Jesus Christ is the author of grace; His death and resurrection gave righteousness unto us–His children. His glory, pure and spotless, brightly outshines the sun. We as the redeemed of Christ Jesus bathe in His beams of divine love, mercy, and grace. His rays of grace alone can transform lost souls into righteousness. Jesus’ grace in our lives is like the rising sun. He is our dayspring from on high, spreading His light as we bask in Him, soaking in His glory.

Malachi 4:2 The Sun of Righteousness will rise with healing in its wings

The Son of God has healing in His wings like the sun, beaming rays…

Morning Reading: John 20.19-23 ESV

On the evening of that day, the first day of the week, the doors being locked where the disciples were for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.” When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.” And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you withhold forgiveness from any, it is withheld.” John 20.19-23 ESV

Morning Reading: Psalm 46.4-5 NKJV

“There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God,
The holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High.
God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved;
God shall help her, just at the break of dawn.”
Psalm 46.4-5 NKJV

Stop Slogan-Voting. Stop Hate-Voting. Stop Being Manipulated. Part 3. Puppet People = Legislators Who Can’t Take the Heat

Thank you for your honesty and openness. I asked “Forest Gump” (see my earlier post) what his core principles were – he gave me a blank stare. The best political reasoning that I’ve ever heard starting from the position of “Life” came from Rick Santorum… and he has paid a price as well. God Bless you.

Rebecca Hamilton's avatarPublic Catholic

Public Catholic exists because of two events.

1. President Obama declared war on my church. I first learned about the (then) proposed HHS Mandate forcing religious institutions to purchase insurance that paid for contraceptives, abortifacients and sterilization in the fall of 2011. I knew immediately that this was an unprecedented attack on religious freedom. I also saw it as a deliberate attempt to destroy the Church’s moral voice by forcing it to compromise its teachings in the face of government power. I had known for a long time that Christianity in general, and the Catholic Church in particular, was under growing secularist attack. But this mandate went beyond what I thought any President would do.

2. The Republican-led Oklahoma House of Representatives killed over half the pro-life bills backed by Oklahomans for Life in 2012. They used exactly the same tactics the Democrats had used to kill pro-life bills for…

Public Catholic Comment: Stop Slogan-Voting…. Pt 2 – “Who’s your Momma?”

“Money is the mother’s milk of politics.”

Jesse “Big Daddy” Unruh, 1966, Democrat, Speaker, California State Assembly

If “Big Daddy” Unruh is right – and he is – then the question we must ask politicians is: “Who’s your Momma?”

Rebecca Hamilton (Public Catholic) – “Stop Slogan-Voting…. Pt 2 – High Campaign Dollars = Government Puppet People” – gives us an insider’s understanding of how money works in politics and why we have no idea whom we are electing in the current money/consultant-driven political environment.

Barack Obama is her prime example. Please read her post FIRST, before going any further.

The reason I find Rebecca Hamilton’s (Public Catholic) blog so compelling is that it rings true and helps me make some sense out of my own recent experience with public politics – and she does so from an authentic Christian perspective. This referenced post is no exception.

In this commentary, I’d like to offer a brief Case Study and some Lessons Learned from Hamilton’s insights.

CASE STUDY: SC Congressional District 7 – With the primaries behind us, my choice in November is now between a Chamber of Commerce clone of Forest Gump (R) and a Jim Clyburn clone of Sheila Jackson Lee (D). The candidates themselves would, of course, vehemently protest these caricatures – one thinks slower than Gump and the other is younger than Jackson Lee. But that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

My concern here is how the GOP ended up with Forest Gump. Continue reading “Public Catholic Comment: Stop Slogan-Voting…. Pt 2 – “Who’s your Momma?””
